Discovery is the act of detecting something new. With reference to science and academic disciplines, discovery is the observation of new phenomena, new actions, or new events and providing new reasoning to explain the knowledge gathered through such observations with previously acquired knowledge from abstract thought and everyday experiences.

Description

New discoveries are acquired through various senses and are usually assimilated, merging with pre-existing knowledge and actions. Questioning is a major form of human thought and interpersonal communication, and plays a key role in discovery. Discoveries are often made due to questions. With reference to science and academic disciplines, discovery is the observation of new phenomena, new actions, or new events and providing new reasoning to explain the knowledge gathered through such observations with previously acquired knowledge from abstract thought and everyday experiences. In scientific research, exploration is one of three purposes of research (the other two being description and explanation). Discovery is made by providing observational evidence and attempts to develop an initial, rough understanding of some phenomenon. Some discoveries lead to the invention of objects, processes, or techniques. A discovery may sometimes be based on earlier discoveries, collaborations or ideas, and the process of discovery requires at least the awareness that an existing concept or method can be modified or transformed. However, some discoveries also represent a radical breakthrough in knowledge.

Who discovered that kinetic energy is created when rotating your hips when you punch?
Q. Boxers rotate their hips a.k.a. "put their body behind their punches" when they punch. As a result the punch is a lot stronger than if you were to just swing your arms. Who discovered this? A human being instinctively just swing their arm wildly when in a fight so someone must have discovered this unnaturally movement. Correction: Energy is not created but taken from the ground when in a stance and rotating the body when punching. Also, I doubt that caveman were smart enough to figure this out.

What have you discovered about yourself since answering questions in Cooking and recipes?
Q. I have discovered I have some food issues. I never thought I was picky, but it turns out, I'm very much so. I also learned I have some texture issues with foods. What about you, any new discoveries that came from being on Y/A?

A. I love to cook, but since answering questions I have found out that I would like to do this professionally. I currently work as an event planner, and I think I would like to do this as my own event planning business and cater as well. I have also learned to be more considerate of other's questions. When I first see a question that sounds so simple to me, I have always thought who wouldn't know how to do that? However, there are people who genuinely do not know how, and I'm happy that I could help them out.

Would you consider divorce if you discovered that your spouse had been an ABUSER in past relationships?
Q. Suppose that you had never seen any abusive tendencies towards you, but you discovered that he/she had emotionally or physically abused a past girlfriend (or wife, or boyfriend, or husband)? Would the source of this information matter to you? Police report, nosy friend/family, background check, confrontational ex, little bird, etc...? How would you approach your spouse with this information? Would you check it out yourself first, or would you first hear what he/she had to say about it?

A. What would matter to me is if he got treatment and therapy for it. I know people say that abusers never change, BUT if he wasn't being abusive towards me, wasn't showing any signs then either it hasn't come to a head yet or he got therapy and rehab and changed. I would first hear what he or she had to say about it.
