Nounretailers
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Retailing consists of the sale of goods or merchandise from a fixed location, such as a department store, boutique or kiosk, or by mail, in small or individual lots for direct consumption by the purchaser. Retailing may include subordinated services, such as delivery. Purchasers may be individuals or businesses. In commerce, a "retailer" buys goods or products in large quantities from manufacturers or importers, either directly or through a wholesaler, and then sells smaller quantities to the end-user. Retail establishments are often called shops or stores. Retailers are at the end of the supply chain. Manufacturing marketers see the process of retailing as a necessary part of their overall distribution strategy. The term "retailer" is also applied where a service provider services the needs of a large number of individuals, such as a public utility, like electric power. Shops may be on residential streets, shopping streets with few or no houses or in a shopping mall. Shopping streets may be for pedestrians only. Sometimes a shopping street has a partial or full roof to protect customers from precipitation. Online retailing, a type of electronic commerce used for business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions and mail order, are forms of non-shop retailing. Shopping generally refers to the act of buying products. Sometimes this is done to obtain necessities such as food and clothing; sometimes it is done as a recreational activity. Recreational shopping often involves window shopping (just looking, not buying) and browsing and does not always result in a purchase. From Wikipedia under the

If a retailer sells an item at a store, are they required by law to furnish a receipt? Asked by John S - Fri Apr 2 21:28:15 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. In English speaking countries the term most frequently applies to the printed record given to a customer at checkout that lists the purchases made, the total amount of the transaction including taxes, discounts and other adjustments, the amount paid and the method of payment. Increasingly, these receipts may also include messages from the retailer, warranty or return details, special offers, advertisements or coupons. Receipts may also be provided for non-retail operations such as banking transactions. A receipt is a legal document[citation needed]. In many countries it is mandatory by law for retailers to give receipts and to store information about every receipt, so that the tax authority can check that sales are not hidden. Most Retailers have a fairly strict no return policy on open media returns (such as software, dvds, etc.) I was wondering if this is due to copyright protection law or if it is just a industry standard in Canada. If it is a law, is there a online resource where I can find the information? Thanks. Asked by Patrick D - Fri Oct 3 15:32:14 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. It's just industry standard. There is no law forbidding it. Answered by James - Fri Oct 3 15:39:12 2008 Will growth of online computer shopping services ultimately eliminate the need for retailers and wholesalers?
Q. It is noted that on-line computer shopping services like those available through AOL, Yahoo, Prodigy, and elsewhere in the internet are making it possible for individual consumers to get direct information from hundreds of companies they would not otherwise know about. In many cases, consumers can use the computer to place an order for a purchase that is then shipped to them directly. Will growth of these services ultimately eliminate the need for retailers and wholesalers? What marketing functions are involve in this "electronic purchases" and who performs them? Asked by Mike Cabra - Mon Nov 10 02:20:27 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. It will definitely get rid of physical retailers. Not wholesalers so much because they do offer the lower prices. If anything, the wholesale industry will grow because of the overwhelming competition to have the lowest prices. Internet Stores use every option available to them. Take a look at "The Four P's Product - sell anything place - online promotion - space advertising & EMAIL - direct mailers price - cheaper than most physical stores this is possibly what will cause lots of these stores to close their doors, no matter what they are no competition for the internet.
